The Woman Behind the Table
I’m Kamie, the founder of ‘Ohana Picnics.
Born on O‘ahu and carrying Makaha close to my heart, my connection to Hawai‘i has always shaped the way I see the world, the way I welcome people, and the importance I place on celebrating life’s milestones.
When I moved to the East Coast, I found myself missing the warmth, beauty, and sense of togetherness that I grew up with in Hawai‘i. Over time, I began imagining a way to bring a piece of that feeling with me—and create something that others here could experience, too.
That vision became ‘Ohana Picnics.
I wanted to create something on the East Coast that offered people an opportunity to slow down, gather with the people they love, and experience something that felt truly special. Not simply a place to sit, but an occasion designed to be remembered.
My journey to creating ‘Ohana Picnics began with a genuine love for bringing ideas to life. I’ve always been drawn to beautiful surroundings, entertaining, styling, and creating occasions that feel personal rather than ordinary.
Today, I personally oversee the creative direction behind each ‘Ohana Picnics experience—from the initial concept to the finishing touches. I’m drawn to the details that make a setting feel special, the little elements guests may not expect, and the moments that make someone pause and say, “This is beautiful.”
For me, this business is deeply personal. It represents where I come from, what I love, and the vision I had of bringing a little piece of that feeling from Hawai‘i to the East Coast.
